Black Sea frozen 20 meters from the shore

The Black Sea froze on a 20 meter portion from the shore. This is a quite rare phenomenon according to the specialists, considering that the sea water is salty. But as the sea salinity dropped, the extremely low temperatures in the past days formed quite a thick ice layer.

In some areas the ice reached 20 meters. The last time when the sea froze was five years ago. It was colder at the sea shore than in Poiana Brasov at 1,800 meters altitude.

The Friday temperatures will stand around zero degrees. There will be positive temperatures in Galati and in Constanta and the maximum temperature six Celsius degrees, is forecast for Ploiesti.

But in the east of the country the temperatures will go up over the freeze limit. The meteorologists announced potential snows in the center and west of the country.
