Bonhams to auction Aston Martin

It’s Aston Martin galore at Bonhams. This auction season Bonhams is preparing itself to auction a collection of historic Aston Martin cars and their valuable parts. It is at the Aston Martin Works Service Sale that everyone is invited. To be held in the home city of Aston Martin in Newport Pagnell, Bucks on the 19th of May a series of fifty Aston Martin cars have been listed for the auction. These cars include the 1952 Aston Martin DB2 Vantage Sports Saloon the 2005 Aston Martin DB9 Volante. Here’s a look at what’s in store for you at the Aston Martin Bonhams auction.

The Aston Martin Collection to be auctioned by Bonhams

The oldest Aston Martin to be sold at the auction will be the 1952 Aston Martin DB2 Saloon and the Aston Martin DB2 Vantage Sports Saloon. The Aston Martin DB2 Saloon is expected to fetch a price of $130,000-$160,000 and is considered to be the fastest sports car of its time. With a registration number of ZV 6697 the car was owned by someone in the Republic of Ireland. It has an engine capacity of 2.6 litres which has been developed several times before it appeared at the auction list for Bonhams.



The Aston Martin DB2 Vantage Sports Saloon is on the other hand expected to fetch an estimate price of $140,000-$170,000. The car as a bit of a celebrity status attached to it for it was owned by the likes of Michel Poberesjky whose racing name was Mile Sparken, who achieved fame by driving the car in major championships like the Tour De France Auto, the Roubaix Grand Prix, 12 hours of Hyeres and several other well known championships of the 1950s. The car at the auction comes with original headlights and wing mirrors and is in immaculate condition despite being a very busy and active racing car.

Next in line is the 1971 Aston Martin DBS V8 Saloon whose estimated price if around $24,000-$32,000. It was at the Bonhams’ sale at the National Motor Museum in 2005 that the current owner bought this car in 2005. It is in impeccable condition and was designed by Bill Towns. This four seater model came up in 1969. The car features better power and weighs only 30lbs heavier. 

The car which has completed 65,155 miles by its current owner could run a top speed on 160 mph and could move upto 100 mph in a flash of seconds.
The 1975 Aston Martin Lagonda series 1 comes next and this two door model built by David Brown is expected to fetch a price of $400,000-$480,000. 

It was one of its most expensive cars of its time since it came with an automatic Torqueflite gear box and a 7.0 litres engine. The car which was made by its designer so that he could have his own chauffer driven car was launched in London in 1974. It has an alloy water radiator along with a battery, fuel delivery and engine cooling.


The 1985 Aston Martin V8 Vantage Saloon is actually a lookalike of a Bond car used in the film ‘ The Living Daylights’ and is expected to fetch somewhere between $114,200-152,300. 

The owner of the car who bought it at an Aston Martin Service station intended to convert it into a replica of the Bond car and has made several changes like installing a new gear box, 16 inches wheels and an updated engine. A sunroof with an Alpine music system and seat leather cover which has been re-Connollised are the other add ons in this car.


 The 1991 Aston Martin DB4GT Zagato Sanction II Coupé is expected to fetch an auction price somewhere between $1.9 million – $2.4 million. David Clark and Michael Brinkert of Taylor & Crawley of Germany happen to be its current owners and the car is actually a result of a tie up between Aston Martin and Zagato of Milan which took place in the 1960s. The car which was driven by Tony Smith, has a 4.2 litres engine and a David Brown four speed gear box.


 The 1994 Aston Martin Virage Limited Edition Coupe is also in the list of Bonhams auctions and the estimated price of this car which once belonged to Lennox Lewis, a heavy weight boxing champion is around $92,000 – $100,000. The car has traveled 33,000 miles and comes with a satellite navigation system along with a customized built in stereo. Its deep green metallic color is also very attractive.


 The more recent items on the Bonhams list is the 2005 Aston Martin DB9 Volante which is expected to fetch a price of $67,000 – $72,000. The car comes in blue and grey and is typically a family car with high comfort levels, interiors with a fascinating blue color and a transmission system that is semi automatic.
