Eastern European hackers guilty of cyber attacks that targeted Facebook and Twitter

Sources within the U.S. security services, quoted by Bloomberg, argue that cyber attacks that targeted Apple, Facebook and Twitter have been organized by a group of hackers in Eastern Europe.

According to sources quoted, hackers would have sought information about research projects, data subject rights and other intellectual property that can be sold on the black market.

Apple confirmed that some of its employees have been targeted by a cyber attack. Similar attacks were focused on the social network Facebook.

Both companies said that the attacks did not compromise essential data.
