Rolls-Royce Art Deco Inspired Cars debut at Paris Motor Show 2012
Rolls-Royce Art Deco Inspired Cars debut at Paris Motor Show
An eclectic artistic and design style that began in Paris in the 1920s,
and flourished internationally throughout in the 1930s and into the WW
II era, Art Deco, as a style of art was most known for its mathematical
geometric shapes, strong colors, zigzags and bold outlines. The style
actually influenced almost all areas of design as well as visual arts,
and at its very best, represented elegance, glamour, functionality, and
modernity.
Now, taking inspiration from this 20th Century’s most
defining, glamorous, and exciting design movement, Britain’s Rolls-Royce
Motor Cars proudly presents a selection of Phantom and Ghost family
cars that celebrates the iconic Art Deco era. And, to pay homage to the
1925 Paris Exhibition or Exposition Internationale des Arts Décoratifs
et Industriels Modernes that originally gave the movement its name ‘art
deco’, Rolls-Royce unveiled the highly bespoke Phantom Drophead Coupé,
Phantom Saloon and Ghost models at the Paris Motor Show 2012.
These three art deco-inspired models come finished in period-correct color schemes and boasts details including mother of pearl and silver inlays and ornamental glassware.
Rolls-Royce Phantom
With
Art Deco-style geometric coachline pattern, Phantom Saloon boasts black
and arctic white interior which hints at the movement’s visual
language.
Further,
high fashioned stainless steel inlays in door cappings, rear picnic
table and telephone drawer evokes the decorative style of the era.
Rolls-Royce Ghost
The elegant simplicity of Ghost is presented in two-tone, jubilee silver atop cobalto blue.
Rolls-Royce Phantom Drophead Coupé
And, the Phantom Drophead Coupé finished in resplendent mother of pearl inlays gracefully completes the show line-up.
Marking
the launch of special collection of art deco-inspired cars, the
automaker will also host a champagne reception on its stand at the 2012
Paris Motor Show, where you will also get to preview the design study of
the McLaren P1, an ultimate supercar.
