Ferrari 250 GTO Sale In U.K Brings In $31.7 Million
Without a doubt, Ferrari is one of those elite luxury supercars that always carry quite a substantial price tag and can render just about every other luxury car in their wake, quite humble. A befitting example of the same has just emerged in the U.K, where a vintage Ferrari 250 GTO has been sold off for a staggering $31.7 million, making it the largest single car transaction in Britain.
The Ferrari 250 GTO has always had a special place in the world of luxury automobiles, for not only being one of the most aesthetically appealing cars of all time, but also because of its rich and vibrant racing history. The 250 GTO witnessed increased production levels from the time of its inception in the year 1962 to the year 1964, when Ferrari had first introduced the sports car for the Group 3 Grand Touring Car category of the FIA.
The particular Ferrari 250 GTO in news carries the chassis number 5095GT and is said to have sold to anonymous buyer by Jon Hunt, a British real estate agent. This 250 GTO was manufactured in the month September in 1963 and is known to be the last of its kind to sport an original body from 1962. The expensive sports car after its creation was registered by Count Giovanni Volpi di Misurata, a renowned auto racing manager and was then put through its paces at the 1963 Tour de France Automobile.
This magnificent piece of auto history lived up to its reputation and came second in the race, while the event was won by another Ferrari 250 GTO.  The Ferrari 250 GTO (5095GT) was later sold to the Automobile Club de l’Ouest (ACO) after significant refurbishing and repairs, while the vehicle made its last run at the 1964 Tour de France Automobile, where the car suffered an engine blow, soon after crossing the finish line.
The Ferrari 250 GTO is an exclusive legacy that till date stands unparalleled, while its only 39 production models further add exclusivity to the vehicle.
