Christie’s as an auction house has built a reputation of dealing in the very top end of which ever segment it takes up. However their New York headquarters is taking up four categories in June and has named it ‘Luxury Week’. They would be offering over 1,000 items in jewelry, watches, wine and 20 th century design. The auctions spread over June 12 to June 15 are expected to achieve over $23 million in sales. The Luxury Week will start on June 12 at 2 PM with the Important Jewels auction.  Over 180 items has been carefully curated for the auction. Items on offer include investment-quality diamonds, rare gemstones, and period jewels. There are several clear stones that have been rated D, E or F, the finest color quality possible. The amount marked the house’s second-highest total ever, which was bolstered by the sale of the last Edvard Munch "Scream" not in a museum to a telephone bidder for $119.9 million . Of the 76 lots on offer, 15 went unsold, a solid sell-through rate of 80 percent by lot. Forty-seven of the lots sold within or over their pre-sale estimates, and the Munch marked the only artist record set. That $330.6 million sum was on the high end of the sale’s $246.3-$323.4 million estimate. The Munch represented about a third of that total. There were a total of 305 lots that went under hammer but the collection from the estate of Huguette M. Clark was the highlight of the auction and witnessed the most aggressive bidding.
