Ferrari Plans a Club to Ensure better Access to Ferrari Collectors for Special Models
Ferrari has a customer base which is strongly dedicated to the brand. There are many people across the globe who are proud owners of several of Ferrari models and they want more of it. And that’s why Ferrari wants to create a collector’s club to give loyal customers a better chance of owning one of the company’s limited edition cars. Luca Cordero di Montezemolo, the CEO of Ferrari is very clear that the hardcore and faithful collectors of the brand must be taken care of particularly in the context of special series releases of the luxury cars.

The planned club will be open to members who own at least five Ferraris. According to the data available with the company there are about 300 collectors worldwide who own five or more Ferraris. As per the plan, the members of this exclusive club will have the right of first refusal on special-series Ferrari cars. The need to have a club like this was acutely felt after the release of Ferrari SA Aperta, a roadster version of the 599 GTB coupe that led to discontent amongst some of the faithful Ferrari owners since only eighty units of the model was produced. Many of the dedicated Ferrari collectors were denied the opportunity to buy the special series model.

The reason for producing only 80 units of the model was that it was a commemorative model released to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the Italian design house Pininfarina, which has styled almost all production Ferrari models since 1951. The new club which is being planned will be much more exclusive than the existing owner’s club. There are 13,000 members of the owner’s club spread in 30 countries around the world. “Ferrari Cavalcade”, an annual driving and sightseeing event is being planned for the club members.
